3 gigs of ram in each of my laptops makes a complete difference when running parallels consistently like I have to. #
I thought the Macbook would only take 2GB. 1GB x 2?
I had thought the same thing until I tried it and it worked.
I think there is some decrease in RAM performance by not having them installed in pairs. Not sure though. My brother in law is running 3GB in his MBP also. I think it got it set up that way at the Apple store. Not sure what the deal is with that.

You’re right, but that was the case back when DDR first came out and I’m not sure if that’s the case anymore. I would guess that it’s a decrease compared to 4gb paired whereas 3gbs is still better than 2gbs paired in performance. Either way, parallels works much better now running with 1gb dedicated.
To go back to paired, the Mac Pro requires pairs (or so it says). I’m sure it’s completely different though since it’s FB ram.
So are you using 1GB + 2GB, and (if so) have you tried 2GB + 2GB?
I haven’t yet. I will though probably tomorrow to update my main post about it. I just need the time.
