I didn't know ripping Wall-E would be so hard. http://bit.ly/18hgV 11 hrs ago
Sara, Avery and I will be heading up to Hume lake tomorrow for the next 5 days. I’m hoping it will be a fun trip and I’m looking forward to the disconnect from work and this virtual world. I will be taking my computer for the off chance the forest will be transmitting free WiFi and I’ll have my iPhone for the rare occasion I must “clean” out my inbox. When I get back I’ll tackle my growing tada list of…
I’m going to hold off from posting a review of Media Temple’s (dv) (VPS) plan for another date, probably after I’m completely happy with the setup and I have some more experience with how they handle support and uptime.
So far the support has been outstanding. Currently I’m on the base dedicated virtual plan that (mt) offers but without Plesk. This was a major requirement for me in moving to (mt). Thanks to their awesome support they provisioned my system fairly…
One of the first things I did on my Media Tempe (dv) was install webmin because I’m a huge fan of easy it let’s you manage your web/server, e.g. web interface to quickly change config files or restart particular services without having to login through SSH.
A more official description:
Webmin is a web-based interface for system administration for Unix. Using any modern web browser, you can setup user accounts, Apache, DNS, file sharing and much more. Webmin removes the need to…
For some reason or another I could not find good documentation on installing Subversion and Trac on fc6 while also using Apache so I’ve simply just documented what I’ve learned and just implemented on my own system.
This tutorial is about the installation of a development enviroment on FC6 it’s not a how-to for using it. If you need to know more I recommend reading Version Control with Subversion (I just ordered it).

You need to install these packages before we start…
For my virtual presence: facebook is my home away from www.dancameron.org right now. #
Again Microsoft is making me break the law.
Microsoft has released a new EULA (End User License Agreement) that states that only certain versions of Vista – Business and Ultimate (and Enterprise for corporate customers) are eligible to be run in a virtual machine. The EULA says that Home Basic and Home Premium CANNOT be run in a virtual machine.
Here’s the tecnical legalese from the EULAs:
For Vista Home Basic and Home Premium Editions:
“USE WITH VIRTUALIZATION TECHNOLOGIES. You may not use the…
Some great virtualization articles over at Linux.com.
Jason has some questions about the Parallels and I have to bring up that the new Beta release is combining windows with OS X in a fashion that’s not half bad. The new coherence makes it so much easier to work with those few apps that you must have to run, with the ability to launch apps from the OS X dock and only have the windows app window show it’s not half bad to work on Win anymore.
Let me tell you…
Something Jared and I have been talking about is getting our own server and running OpenVZ or another opensource alternative. Here’s a great tutorial on OpenVZ and how to install it.
Virtualization is nice! A good practice for servers, since it makes things more secure, scalable, replacable, and replicable. All this at the cost of little added complexity.
Some great features released today in their new beta build. Here are a few that I’ve been waiting for.
* Drag and Drop files and folders between Windows and Mac. A long awaited feature that lets you seamlessly drag and drop files and folders from Windows to Mac OS X and vice versa.
* Read/Write BootCamp partition. Since this build, an Apple Boot Camp partition with Windows XP installed could be used as a virtual HDD for Parallels Desktop for Mac.
* Boot from…
