I'm so glad that I've found Wordpress; not only for my hobby of blogging but it really has been such an educational experience over the last few years for my development.
As far as personal web development; I'm not even close to what I want to know about web development or web programming, I'll probably never get there, but developing for Wordpress or around Wordpress has led my progression of web development. Only 5 years ago I was using using Dreamweaver for everything, now it's TextMate. That's not a measurement of know-how, to me it shows that I'm comfortable.
For project development ...
I just updated Search Everything with the ability to exclude specific posts, pages or categories. There are a few things I still need to fix like the entire admin panel needs an overhaul (props mikecherim) and a major release needs to come out of the release of Wordpress 2.3 next week. I haven't put enough time in looking at 2.3 but the last thing I read the plugin will be broken with the update, not just the tag searching functionality (that just wont exist yet). I really need to find the time to update the plugin this weekend, or maybe ...
Using TaDa list to manage my tasks, since it has an awesome iPhone interface :), and I'm finding that I have a lot to do:
Two major freelance sites,
Search Everything and WP 2.3,
Theme Updates,
Maintenance,
Server Administration,
Blog posting and tutorials,
and then I get to the wants, and I fear that not enough time exists in my world:
New plugins,
New WP iPhone theme backend and frontend [Link] (0)SHARETHIS.addEntry({ title: "Using TaDa list to manage my tasks, since it has…", url: "http://dancameron.org/pownce/using-tada-list-to-manage-my-tasks-since-it-has" });
Since I have such an elaberate setup for email:
I have a Google Apps Premier Account
I forward all of my email from my major domains to the Google Apps account
I have a few other Gmail accounts that forward to the GA account
I also have all work e-mail forwarded to the GA account for archiving, accessibility and searching
The iPhone allows for makes setting up e-mail so easy for a normal GMail account, even Google Apps accounts work through the basic "GMail" setup but there are a few problems:
The default account is not used. Meaning your reply-to or from address will be defaulted ...
After finally setting up Trac and SVN on my new server I've moved all my projects off Google Code hosting. But instead of checking in all of the code to the new repositories I updated all of the theme and plugin pages. So the problem, you'll not be able to download anything until tonight when I get around to updating the repositories. Unless you just want to head over to GCode (link above) where all the latest versions are, plugins don't count.
Currently I'm planning to keep all of my plugins on extend but if it's a major plugin like Search ...
Released a new version of Search Everything for wordpress tonight. I'm still having issues with filtering out post ids and adding UTW support, maybe next week. I still need to widgetize my themes and release not only my last (brown) theme but fix this one up for release too. Damn, I have a lot to do and I'm wasting it on SE3. At least I'm doing what I want instead of fulfilling my promises.
