Having an IM conversation with someone in Iran, turns out they "hate" Bush...so random. But I had to reply, "that's why I voted for Obama" 6 hrs ago
I’m in need of a laptop for with small form factor, 2 gigs of ram and can run fedora without any hassles. I’ve looked at Lenovo, Sony, R3 and Jared recommends this one but I just can’t find anything better then a black macbook. fedora supports the new intel macs and I’ve yet to find any compatibility issues. The form factor and design is the sealer for me, although I’d prefer the thinkpad design. And with the price being a few hundred less at…
The upgrade path offered by the Mac Pro is particularly interesting, not because Macs weren’t upgradable in the past (since they were) but because upgrades have never been so readily available. And based on our initial testing, it’s looking like you’ll be able to drop in a pair of Clovertowns and make the move from four to eight cores in the Mac Pro by the year’s end. The combination of excellent OS X performance, good Windows XP performance and a…
Cheney: WMD or not, Iraq invasion was correct
Vice president says ‘we would do exactly the same thing’ regardless of intel
Is this guy kidding?
What’s crazy is admin. says they “would do the same regardless” but would we let them. It makes me think these guys really believe them two run the US, only them two.
On its developer mailing lists, Apple has released the source code to the Intel kernel, Bonjour, and Launchd. Additionally, open source software focused on Mac OS X can now use Mac OS Forge for project hosting.
The current Macbook line is just too expensive, $1099+ for the lowest model, which is still a great price considering the specs. I’m thinking Apple will just come out with a ‘lite’ version of the Macbook but according to this picture the “family” is complete. Which makes me wonder. I still think apple’s goal is to get everyone and not just the zealot and JasonB thinks that the lineup will just see a decrease in price since with the current chips…
Microsoft revealed today that it will not support EFI booting for Windows Vista on its launch. The news will be a shock for owners of Intel Macs who had hoped they would be able to dual-boot between Windows Vista and OS X. Intel Macs only support booting via EFI. [read]
This really says a lot about M$. The comment below sums it up perfectly.
No disrespect, but who cares that *Mac* users won’t be able to boot Windows… this is a MUCH…
mikemchargue.com: Price Deathmatch: Apple MacBook Pro vs. Dell Inspiron E1705
I can’t help but feel like the famed “Mac price premium” is a myth here. Dell currently offers cheaper Intel based computers than Apple, but feature-for-feature Apple’s pricing is fair. I’m posting PDFs of both stores so you can double-check my work.
The reason for me being upset about the new Apple announcements is I wanted both the new systems, the MacBook and the iMac, now and buying two machines at the same time and eBaying the old has too much loss involved at the same time. But I did notice a few things that made my upgrade process clear.
First and for-most is that the Pro apps will not work on the Intel machines until March. This being the main reason I would want…
If you’ve been following the keynote or been to any tech site today you might have noticed Apple has already gone Intel. And I love the catch phrase, “What’s an Intel chip doing in a Mac. A whole lot more than it ever did in a PC.”
Today they released their new iMac and the predecessor to the PowerBooks the MacBook pros. Both machines I planned on upgrading when they went to Intel but never at the same time and I…
