1. Easter Worm.

We went to the park up the street on Saturday for an Easter egg hunt and the kids loved this thing

flickr slide show to see the whole sequence.

I was pretty grossed out about the whole ordeal–too reminiscent of almost 4 years ago. But I guess you can correlate the easter story with a huge worm that eats you and…you know the rest.

  2. Hume Lake

Sara, Avery and I will be heading up to Hume lake tomorrow for the next 5 days. I’m hoping it will be a fun trip and I’m looking forward to the disconnect from work and this virtual world. I will be taking my computer for the off chance the forest will be transmitting free WiFi and I’ll have my iPhone for the rare occasion I must “clean” out my inbox. When I get back I’ll tackle my growing tada list of things to do and two major development projects I have lined up.

  3. Transformers

More than meets the eye. It was pure eye candy tonight at the theater; the effects and action were non-stop and was a real exciting movie to watch. The sound effects we’re perfect but the dialog was lacking. If it weren’t for the constant half sentence punch lines that made me laugh in the beginning and later made me annoyed it would have been one of my favorite action movies. Now it’s just a fun popcorn movie just in time for the 4th of July summer time weather that forces people to pay $10 for a movie because of the free air conditioning.

I’m a fan of Bay’s action but after thinking about his past movies I really don’t think he can make a meaningful relation happen on screen. The main character was way more in love with BumbleBee than he was with the hat chick in the movie. And I never took film school but I know relationship conflicts need to happen to build relationships within a movie but if it happens over a 3 minute span that includes horrible dialog take that shi# out of the movie, it’s unnecessary.

Other than the dialog (that I anticipated to be worse) the movie was great. I found I don’t like rating movies on a number scale anymore, so I’ll say it’s worth the full box office price because of the effects and large sound.

  4. Surf’s Up

Avery and I went to go see Surfs up tonight and it’s definitely in my top 5 of CG/cartoon movies. I never thought a non-pixar movie would be in there so soon but it was a pretty stellar movie. Not to go deep: it’s story is average but the effects and shrek style humor are fun.

The special effects are awesome, someone that has lived in a California beach town throughout his life  and grew up surfing (body boarding) I really appreciated the accuracy of how well the waves looked and behaved. Like Big Z I was all about the big wave tubes and watching a penguin and a chicken surf was surprisingly pleasing.

I definitely need to get some of my video online. In order to reminise my teen years that were so long ago.

  5. Street View

Google Maps’ new street view is fun.

  6. Spiderman 3

Spiderman 3 was awesome and a major let down in one. The action scenes were great the major plot line was solid but the fillers were horrible and distracting.

    Spoliers ahead:

  7. Reader Trends

Since I have to post about something other than Apple I thought I’d share some of my reader trends. Hopefully it’s as interesting to you as it is to me, or helpful.

One thing I wanted to bring up with all the GTD hubub going around was how I categorizing my feeds (it’s also similar to how I manage my tasks through e-mail). I forget what podcast and who I heard used this method but I’d like to thank him since it’s helped me tremenously. The simple method is to prioritize your feeds that way your not digging through a ton of categories to just get your favorite/”Important” feeds. In the past to keep up with unread feeds while I was busy I’d just clear out all them, marking me all as read . disregarding that there were some “important” things I ended up wanting to read. So missing items is not the wonderful thing about this method, the most important is to not read what you don’t care too much for.

You’ll notice below I’m sticking to my prioritization.Trend tags

And no, you don’t have to make “dumb” names. I’m just using numbers so they’ll be in order.

Another interesting trend that I’d like to share is when I read. Not important at all but it’s just fun to see my peek is during TV hours and the end of my shift.

    Reader Time

I have a lot of shared feeds on my links page.

  8. Perfect Scores in Darts

Mine and Jason’s score at Darts (Wario Ware).
    Triple 20’s x 3 – Me
    Triple 20’s x 3 – Jason
    Triple 20’s x2 + 1 = My win

That was fun, I do have to give him credit for making the first perfect though. In other wii news he beat me at bowling the first time playing. … Read More »

  9. SSX Blur

SSX Blur arrived today and I have a very mixed review of it. The first thing you’ll notice is the style. I really like the modern comic/cell shading/bold colorful filled look, I’m sure there is a word for this type of style but I absulutly love it. This style really boads well with the wii because we all know it’s not as powerful as the 360 or the PS3 but it doesn’t matter because it wouldn’t look any better. Looking is differnt then playing though.

Playing the game is very difficult. The older games are all button smashers compared to this game. It’s very precise and deliberate. Steering with the nunchuck takes a few minutes to get used to and the tricks are nerve racking until you get the feel. I played it for 30 mintues and I’m still not comfortable with it. [Video]

However, I’m positive this game will give me a lot of joy in the future. I just wish it didn’t have such a learning curve because I don’t see it being fun for guests playing multiplayer.

  10. Memories

I missed my blogoversary on Sunday, thanks to my live archives for reminding me. 3 years earlier on that day I posted about “Best Buy not a Best Bet” with iBlog on Sara’s old mac laptop. It’s not a great post but it’s fun to look back and remember how that page looked so long ago in relation to this site. Best yet, it’s serves as an awesome reminder of Tim for me; telling me I needed a comment system on that old iBlog so he could coment on his experience, since that “friend” in the post was him.
