Thinking about making individual repos for client projects instead of using a master repo. All for client access and hooking into basecamp. 3 hrs ago
Received a Pownce invite from Techcrunch’s newly purchased inviteshare.com. I’d like to say that inviteshare is not just a great idea but the design and implementation is wonderful. I received my invite to Pownce in less than 5 minutes of requesting it; I just hope the demonoid invite get fulfilled through it’s small community.
On to my early impressions of Pownce:
It’s been compared to Twitter but it’s completely missing the mobility of Twitter and the accessibility of Twitter. Without an API it’s going to…
For Apple’s Windows Strategy to Work, It Must Replace Microsoft Office and Buy Adobe Systems
PBS | I, Cringely . April 27, 2006 - Killer Apps
The article isn’t just about Adobe, 80% of it is about replacing Office and he makes an interesting point that Apple could be developing something with OpenOffice which they similarly did with Safari and KHTML.
I received CyberLink’s Powerdirector last week to review here and I was pleasantly surprised to find out that is a great alternative for consumer editing on the PC. If you’re on a Mac you might as well skip this review and start reading a past review on iMovie. I would have liked to compare it to Adobe’s Premiere Elements which I highly recommend the pro version for all the pro-sumers. But instead I will have to compare PowerDirector to Premiere Elements which I…
I wish more companies would see the benifit in releases like this; take note Adobe/Macromedia, Microsoft.
Avid, if you didn’t know, is the de-facto DV editing suite on the PC and aside from Final Cut it is on OS X. I would recomend you download it and use it if you plan on doing any video editing on your PC. It’s gotta be comparable to the new basic Premiere version and it’s FREE.
I wanted to take this conversation into comparing Apple laptops and PC laptops. And the reason why not to buy a PC laptop.
Jared asks this question:
So you don’t have anything against Dells specifically, just all non-Apple laptops?
To be honest, yes, most PC laptops I’ve seen are not designed well. Their too big, bulky, and lack default hardware features that can only be upgraded later for an additional charge; screens and Bluetooth to name a couple. Yes, dell and other manufacturers have…
Apple to ditch IBM, switch to Intel chips | CNET News.com
We can only wait until Monday but this could be good news.
The good:
1. Apple is very secretive on computer updates, so moving to Intel will only help us Mac lovers know when the next updates are around the corner. Unless they have some secrete deal with Intel, or Intel makes entirely different chips then you see in our x86 computers.
2. We could possibly see Mac OS X released for all x86-64…
Adobe announced this morning that they will be acquiring webdev tool powerhouse Macromedia in an all stock exchange valued at approximately $3.4 billion, pending SEC approval. Adobe’s PDF (Acrobat) format and Macromedia’s Flash platform are probably their two most pervasive products and so the effects of such an acquisition will likely be felt by anyone with an Internet connection in some form or another.
Put another way, it’s a safe bet to say that soon, we’ll be able to generate PDFs…
Fortune publishes a short 5-question interview with Steve Jobs which addresses the iPod’s effect on Apple and Apple’s current success. The teaser interview leads to a longer (subscription) article entitled “How Big Can Apple Get?” which provides more thoughts from Steve Jobs.
MacObserver hilights the key points from the article which will also appear in print in the Feb 21, 2005 issue of Fortune. It provides some interesting insights into the recent history of Apple from Steve Jobs’ perspective.
Of interest, according to the…
Long time no type. I thought I would have written more with a new computer but I truly have been taken away because of it. I am obsessed right now with getting it perfect. I have been trying to get my programs installed and programs I do not have downloaded, anyone have Motion or Shake 3.5 I can “borrow”? Shake 3.5 is a $2,000+ program similar to Adobe After Effects. Another issue I am having is the same week I received my new…
