VMs

What is the best VM software for not only LAMP servers but for a few application light systems? Is it VMware Server? And what about Virtuozzo or OpenVZ.

I’m leaning towards VMware since it’s free but Virtuozzo has some great support included for all installed OSs and has less overhead. OpenVZ is also free but I’ve only heard of it until recently.

Does Xen just run on windows or Linux too?
  • Don't forget Xen. I want to look into OpenVZ more too, but I know Xen supports the newer hardware hypervisor features of the latest processors, which should make a big difference in overhead.
