Traffic

Surprsingly my traffic hasn’t suffered from the Pagerank decrease.

It makes me wonder how much pagerank factors into Google’s algorithm now-a-days.

  • Yeah, there are a couple problems with traffic as a factor in ad prices, though:

    (1) it's usually not publicly exposed in a verifiable way, and
    (2) I don't think Google takes it into account in its rankings. Since TLA customers are essentially trying to pay for higher PageRank for their own sites, they don't care too much about traffic on the ad hosting site, because they're not going after actual click-throughs the way other advertising systems are.
  • That's encouraging. Too bad TLA wants to use pagerank as their main metric. I guess we will see what they do. Traffic should be as big a factor, if not more, than pagerank.
