TiVo

If you do not have a Tivo or subsequent box then you are a loser; Jared. I still need to do a review on Moxi and it’s comparison to Tivo but I am lazy. The simple fact is if you watch basic cable get a Tivo; if you watch digital cable or have HD then you must get a Moxi. Moxi is Adelphia’s Tivo wannabe. Check out the TiVo.com Web Specials, $50 for a Tivo.

Listen to Sara, she is wise beyond her years,
  • The time you'll save is worth it alone. You'll never miss a show or have to rush home to watch a show. You can take a break whenever you like- go the bathroom, get a snack, take care or kids... TIVO rocks the house!
  • Perhaps it's that I'm not *enough* of a TV addicted loser to pay for a device that allows me to maximize my TV viewing.

That being said, I actually probably will end up getting one (a DVR of some sort). The main criteria I have though is being able to export to a standard format (not proprietary) media file (like MPG or compressed AVI), preferably over an ethernet connection, although I would settle for USB.

My main goal (other than the obvious convenience and the fact that my current VCR's programming doesn't work anymore) is to complete my collection of Twilight Zone episodes, which I was previously recording directly on one of my computers, but the setup and programming for that was a hassle, so I stopped doing it.
