I’m having a tough time with my site right now. Again I’ve come to the point I don’t like the functionality. I spent a few hours today creating a simple minimalistic theme similar to this and I decided to stop. The work that Dean put into this core is just too much work. And even though I want to be individualistic with my design I just can’t wrap my head around the how and come up with something I want.
It’s like a project you really want/need to do but you can’t write up the requirements and you intentionally give it to the developer. Only this time I’m giving myself the empty “requirements”.
At some point I will be ripping this down and starting from scratch but as it looks it’s going to take a while. Since the only things I want to “fix” or redo are:
- Figure out how I want to handle tweets. Inline or Sidebar and how they look. I’m also thinking about creating another MU install specifically for this.
- asides are non-existent right now and I’d like to bring their distinction back.
- Figure out what should be taken out. Specifically the cool unused stuff.
What I’ve done:
- Taken out a few load intensive plugins.
- Wrapped the posts around the meta-column making only the homepage three columns.
- A few CSS tweeks.
- New Tweeter blog but it’s not very noticeable or presented well enough on the homepage.
