    Let’s just use skype.

    For the agenda let’s either start emailing each other or I can create a post on my dev wordpress site, or just create another wp site just for this. Any other suggestions?

    But skype means we all don’t have to be at the same place. We could always figure out better recordings later. I prefer to get all of us on the same podcast rather then having to meet somewhere. And it would feel more comfortable for me to be in front of a computer that I can reference if need be.

    Editing will definitely have to be done if you want to take care of that.

    After Levi’s house might work if nothing else does. I rather not though.

    yeah, i like the one room idea, even if it means we all have our laptops. the after levi’s house thing was mainly just so i’m not committing yet another night of the week. i don’t want this to interfere with my ability to score 20 ejaculations in six weeks for the big sperm count test coming up. if we do do it another night, doing it from home would be happiest for me.

    Meeting all together just isn’t going to happen. Especially if it is on a Wednesday because there is no way I am going to leave Levi’s house at 8-830 then drive to Nathan’s house, do the podcast that would take an hour or more because of setup, then drive back. I am not down for getting home around 1030. And just like Nathan said, I don’t want to wast another week night and the weekends are off limit.

    Any night during the week is probably OK with me too, except for Tuesdays (Dan, I don’t think you can do Tuesdays either).

    It’s not like Nathan’s house is that far from you; even assuming you left at 8:30 you would be there by 8:45, start the PC at 9:00. At first we could start with a 30 minute format and see how it goes from there, so you could easily be home by 10. If that’s too much driving around for you, we could always skype you in from your house, or just record it at your house (don’t know how portable the recording equipment is).

    I do think that good sounding recordings would be nice. We will need to think about mics and such, and a mixer if we are all (or most of us) going to be in the same room.

    As for content, my suggestion would be that we put together a show notes wiki (or similar) that everyone participating can go to throughout the week and throw in some summaries of stuff to talk about. The notes would then evolve throughout the week and when it came time to do the show that would serve as our outline.

    In terms of topics, I think it could be anything. Given our interests, I’m sure it will mostly be about tech stuff, but we could certainly include other issues if they’re interesting. (Although I’d prefer to steer clear of political stuff for the most part). I think it would be cool to throw in a free (non-commercial) song every now and then, or do occasional music / movie / other media reviews etc. Basically anything that doesn’t involve Nathan’s afore mentioned activities during the next six weeks.

    Not knowing where Nathan lives, I’m not sure about time frames on Wed. nights if we meet there. My house is also available for meeting and recording there. I have DSL, wireless, a PC with a pro sound card, a G5, 2 mixers, but I have no mics. Wherever we do it we should make it as fun as possible to do otherwise it will feel like work. A 30 minute show is plenty long. So once we get our set up figured out, we should be able to bang it out and throw back a few beers and have a blast in a short time frame.

    I like Jared’s idea of how to handle the topics we discuss via a show notes wiki throughout the week. That is the format that I am most attracted to in the podcasts I listen to.

    Tech, culture, funny stories etc. are good starting points. Steering clear of politics is a good idea and will make for a more pleasurable experience for us and the listeners.

    I think Jason’s house might be the best place. This way we can go and seclude ourselves from our kids. I would hate it if we got interrupted.
    We could possibly do it at my house, which I would prefer, but I don’t have the sound equipment. I prefer my house because it’s sort of in the middle for everyone (sort of), I have enough equipment and then if I don’t go to Levi’s house it wouldn’t be that big of a deal for me.

    because i don’t feel like registering right now:

    my equipment is very portable. i have a two channel usb input which works well and better (raw) sound than going through a sound card. i have five mics: a large diaphragm condenser, a small diaphragm condenser, two dynamics, and a shotgun. i figure we have three reasonable options:

    1. all huttle around the large diaphragm condenser 40′s style would probably be fine, except we wouldn’t be able to pump up the voices of people who might not talk as loud (jb). still, this would be the easiest way to capture the sound and give everyone’s voice pretty equal treatment.

    2. two of us on large diaphragm condenser and two on the small. this would be good because we could have some greater control over individual voices in the mix process after recording. someone would need to bring and extra mic stand because i only have one, plus a high quality cable would be good two since i only have one really nice cable. i have others, but they’re crap. plus, the two on the small diaphragm condenser are going to have a slight downgrade in vocal quality, plus more room noise.

    3. use someone’s board (i have one too) to give each of us his own mic. of course, the board will add a level of analog sound and introduce line noise et cetera. plus, we’ll need three extra cables and stands. the benefit would be that we can give everyone their own mic, but we’d have to get the mix pretty perfectly live, unless someone has a four channel input they’re not mentioning.

    re: my balls, i need to clear out the tubes before i get my sperm count checked. minimum 20 before the big date with a test tube.
