On the pot pondering

I sit here trying to figure out the habits of my readers because i notice out of the 4 posts, that were posted on the same day this week, people commented on the techie post that involved the bridgeblogs site rather then the others. Why is that? And I am a little discouraged because no one gave me a name for the flash streaming service, I know you guys are creative. But since you are all tos slow, I went with scatteredstream.com. It doesnt work just yet but it will, I just have to figure out how to get…more above.

About the Author, Dan Cameron:

I'm the owner and solution engineer at Sprout Venture, a web solutions company that specializes in web development including WordPress.

I started my first blog in 2003 and transitioned to WordPress in 2004. Since moving to WordPress I've written a few plugins and themes for public consumption. Lately I'm busy engineering/building/coding and have only been able to share a few code snippets.

If you're in need of some web development, web design or custom WordPress plugins and/or themes contact me, I'll be happy to discuss it with you.

That is one of the best features in 1.5. The comment shows for the commenter, and the comment is thrown into moderation. This totally helps with those duplicate comments that people left with the old system.
  • My bad; I didn't realize that it still shows you your own comments (if you're logged in) when they are pending moderation, so I thought those last two slipped by, but really only I can see them until they are approved. Pretty cool.
  • Guess not; you should definitely add "phentermine" to your spam words list.
  • I wouldn't try *just* my spam plugin; it's supposed to be a supplement to others. I know of at least one spammer (some phentermine seller) that gets around my technique (dynamically modifying the query string in the post URL).

As for registration, it's definitely easier (don't have to type your name, etc), and since it keeps you logged in via a cookie you don't have to log in every time either.

P.S. - This comment will probably get moderated because I mentioned that drug, but oh well.

I just turned that feature off and I turned off my other spam plugins.
Jared: I will now put your plugin to test. It better work.

They are, sort of. I have it so a user must have a previosly accepted comment and for some reason Strykers comments get held, everytime. Maybe he is part of the blacklist. I will look into it, but if Stryker would just register then this wouldn't happen, I think.
  • Dan, why don't you just allow unregistered users to make comments without moderation?
  • Dan
you can still give a request it's not really final.

Styker, will you please register for my blog so I don't have to approve every comment?

Also do you use the new theme or the old one?
  • what am i doing part uno didn't really have something to comment on. i was pondering some suggestions for part tres, but you went and registered something before i could post some good suggestions. i have a ton of thoughts on prayer, but haven't really had the frame of mind to formulate them into words. i will definitely post on that one, just later...
