Occlusal Guard

I hadn’t told anyone yet but I had to get an occlusal guard. I’ve apparently been grinding my teeth at night so much that my K9s are smooth. Last year my dentist mentioned it and I thought it wasn’t possible since Sara never told me. Turns out Sara had told me and my dentist last month told me I needed to get one because I could destoy my teeth through chipping.

And now Martha and I have something else in common. And I don’t know who has it worse; even though I need to have my contraption in at night while she needs it in 24/7 for the next two years I wonder if the nightly thing for the rest of my teeth’s life is going to be a drag. At least for now it doesn’t hurt and I slept great last night. I thought for sure it would give me problems but it seems I only woke up a few times last night compared to the constant tussle.

Here’s a picture of the thing if you were wondering,

is it possible that my dentist charges me $500.00 for a occlusal guard before work on crowns. just think this is kinda pricey?

Got one the first year of our marriage, first year of teaching, moving and living on Long Island ( from the country at college ), first kid on the way coming in 9 months. No surfing, no sleep. I started grinding my teeth at night. It stopped when everything eased off by year 2.

    Upper.
  • You can use denture cleaning tabs on it as well. I'm glad your protecting your self. I have seen 40 year olds who need full mouth reconstruction because of grinding. Is it an upper or lower appliance?

It's acrylic so it's not going to be replaced anytime soon, they're also really expensive since my insurance didn't pay for any of it.

As for the breath thing, I'm supposed to brush it regularly and I intend to. So it shouldn't get shizy.

just get a new one every so often or your breath will be shiznasty.
