Micro$oft still running G5 Powermacs

360 running on Powermacs

I know this is really old news because the development kits were released along time ago, to game developers, were Apple G5 dualies. But it’s mid May right now and they still do not have an actual running xbox 360 machine. Nor a modded one to fit the hardware in. The release date is supposedly this December, how are they going to make the millions of machines they need in time. For E3 they could have at least created a special case to hide the fact the fastest machines out right now, G5 PowerPCs, are from there compitition; Apple.

With this picture aside the specs for the 360 are ridiculous, I would be very surprised if Microsoft pulls it off. The thing will be the fastest machine PC or Mac, and it will be less then $500 (hopefully).

* Three symmetrical cores running at 3.2 GHz each
* Two hardware threads per core; six hardware threads total
* VMX-128 vector unit per core; three total
* 128 VMX-128 registers per hardware thread
* 1 MB L2 cache

Crazy.
