Lost Secrets

Lost Secrets Revealed Online

Fans of ABC’s hit SF series Lost who played this summer’s alternate-reality game The Lost Experience got a big payoff if they stuck with it: the secret to Hurley’s numbers (4, 8, 15, 16, 23 and 42) and revelations about the Dharma Initiative and the Hanso Foundation. The answers, which were reported by TV Guide, can be found in a video detailing the elaborate backstory to the show, which has been posted in its entirety on YouTube.com.

The numbers represent the Valenzetti Equation, a mathematical formula having to do with the timetable for humanity’s extinction. The show’s sinister Dharma Initiative was an effort by the mysterious Hanso Foundation to ward off that inevitability. When Dharma failed, Hanso’s nefarious acting leader, Thomas Mittelwerk, set in motion a plan to release a virus that would kill 30 percent of the world’s population.

Details of the game’s various threads can be found on the Lost Experience blog.

Yeah, maybe it's the ads too. I'll mess with it later.
  • I actually like the style (color balance, etc.); my only gripe would be that it's not focused enough on content, because there are so many links / metadata that are prominent at the same level as the posts that the main content doesn't stand out as much, making everything kind of blend together.

I also like the look of the transparent overlay at the bottom of the post entries on the main page, that's a pretty cool effect.

Got it back up and changed the theme, you guys probably wont like it though.

Working on it. It's strange and most likely a bug in the new server.
  • I almost wish they hadn't done that. The numbers are no big deal, but the population control thing might have been too much to reveal outside of the actual show.

Of course, that's assuming that what's happening on the island is in any way still related to this, which it may not be, and this could just be a form of a red herring. We still have no idea whether the "others" we've seen are in any way related to this project. Although it's likely that they are somehow, we still don't know whether they were either knowing or unknowing participants or just the subjects of some kind part of the experiments that were somehow related, and furthermore we don't know whether even if they were affiliated with this project in the past whether they still are now, or whether they are rebels that turned against the foundation.

I'm guessing will see those kinds of twists and turns more and more, since it would seem uncharacteristic to reveal anything too obvious at this stage of the game.

What's going on with underwaterhatch.com right now? Looks like it's down.
