Liger – Wikipedia

Liger – Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The liger is a cross (a hybrid) between a male lion and a female tiger. It is therefore a member of genus Panthera. It looks like a giant lion with diffused stripes. Like tigers (and unlike
lions), ligers like swimming.

One of the reasons why Wikipedia will never be a true blue encyclopedia replacement. I could imagine some kid reading this and reporting on it for a 3rd grade animal report, only because the librarian said Wikipedia would be a great resource.

Don’t get me wrong I love Wikipedia and I think this is damn funny but with all seriousness this does create some sort of weaponry for those encyclopedia print houses.

Why do you think it’s not true? Is it all a lie? The article sounds pretty good to me.

    your kidding right?

  • Nate

I’m pretty sure these kinds of animals do exist. I’m pretty sure I’ve seen a cross between a zebra and giraffe that was discovered in the wild. Why don’t you edit the entry and add that it’s fictional. Did you read the discussion? I don’t know if it’s a fake, but maybe I’m just being stupid. I’m not a biologist.

  • Nate

…or a zoologist. I guess that would make more sense.

I din’t read the discussion until now. Pretty interesting.

It still seems fake though, I would have to see “hobbs” himself at the Sierra Zoo to actually beleive it.

  • Nate

I’m told that big cat caught in Moorpark eralier this year was a liger.

You notice the picture on that web page is the same picture on wiki’? And that website is a little wierd, it just seems like a hox page since the site does not navigate to the liger page (as much as I could tell).

Anyways, even if they did mate the two, why is ever picture the F’ing thing has strips? wouldn’t some not have strips? Or no mane with strips or neither?

It just doesn’t make sense and one site isn’t going to convince me.

what do you think about this one? – http://www.nic.fi/~peannu/Kliger.jpg

  • http://scatteredthoughts.us Dan

that’s totally real. I believe that more then the Liger.

At least the Kliger isn’t referenced in a movie; based on a true story; as a fantasy animal.

I took a Videoconferencing course from Scott Sharer and he said his animals were ligers.
Their markings are different and they are much larger. Scott has a live feed going. He
rescued these ligers and now set up a non profit to take care of them. You can donate
    if you want to.
