Sara and I watched Lady in the Water tonight and I liked it. I’d have to say that it’s not one of M. Night’s best movies, it could be the worst, but it served more of a purpose then you might notice when you see it. It’s already been said that the movie isn’t one of his last minute twist stories similar to Signs but it wasn’t exactly the same, it was more of a traditional movie. Because the leads to the end where known throughout the movie and until the end did you realise the truth. Maybe it was a twist with the lead ins.
[Vague Spoiler ahead]
The purpose I talked about previously was the criticizing of M. night’s movie critics, a sort of backlash directly at the people who say they are tired of his games. He did it so well too, not only was the character there for the said reason but he was integral in the plot and it seems almost as though the whole movie resolved around him. Of course not the plot but the effects of the plot were directly contributed to him.
