Everyone who already purchased a Pro account at the old price ($41.77) prior to the switchover today, will receive the following upgrades:

If you have a 1 year pro account it will be extended to 2 years (if you bought a 2 year Pro account it will be extended to 4 years)

2 invites for 1 year Pro accounts to be given to anybody you want to give them to (that is, anybody except people who’ve already got a paid Flickr account, and/or yourself).

I knew this was going to happen right after I purchased a pro account. But I didn’t know that I actually wouldn’t get screwed. I’m actually stoked I got it before the price drop because now I have 2yrs and 2 invites.
Who is more deserving? eBay? or You?

  • UPDATE `wp_comments` SET `comment_author_url` = 'http://freepressblog.org' WHERE 'comment_author` = 'JaredB'
  • Dan
Well I updated your name but you said to just use the ‘comment_author_url’ field, confusing since I need to update certain authors who do not already have urls. If I did the command you wrote I would be giving everyone without the same url.
  • UPDATE `wp_comments` SET `comment_author` = 'JaredB' WHERE `comment_author` = 'JB'

Same for the URLs, except you just use the 'comment_author_url' field.

Yes, I like the setup, especially the post header sections. They only suggestion I would have would be something to signify the end of one post (other than the beginning of the next one. Maybe you could move the link to the comments back down and do something cool with that.
  • Dan
No I was talking about the comments.

Can you give me the query to change that?

Also the query to change URLs?

    You like the new setup?
  • Yes I think I would use it. I'm using Gallery right now, but I think almost all the admin features of that suck, and I've heard Flickr is better.

What is the tight race, between who get the Flickr account? I say you go by the top commenters list. Speaking of that, could you update the comments table to change all the 'JB' comments to have 'JaredB' as the author, so my numbers are pumped up even more?

But seriously, if Nathan wants it too, you should give it to him; it's not that big of a deal for me.
  • Dan
Tight race between Jared and Stryker.
  • Dan
    Terms of Service, duh.

Are you going to use it though?
If you were to get the pro account it would actually be okay to downgrade after a year because you already have the bulk of your pictures uploaded. Most importantly they just uped the limit for the free account and I would imagine they would do it again, giving you the ability to have enough bandwidth for your monthly shots at a lower resolution.
  • Dan
I'll give you one. I just have to wait for them. What is TOS?
  • Do the TOS allow the invites to be posted on ebay? If not, I wouldn't mind getting one.

This is a pretty genius plan actually; from what I hear, once you get used to using the Pro account, you would never want to go back to the basic level.
