CSS AJAX Switch allows for CSS switching without any reload. It stores the selection for future visits and is widgetized and configurable.
I need testers so go check it out. I’m using it now in the ‘advanced mode’ on my sidebar.

There are a lot of jQuery plugins that will do this for you. Maybe some day
I'll wrap one of them up but it's very unlikely.
