Avery Update!!

Our almost 18 month old daughter, Avery, is officially a big girl, she peed in her potty. And like Nathan’s realization of fatherdom, I didn’t even notice until right now when I looked in her toilet. I had thought she needed to go, she did the leg clamp, and since she was naked I told her to go to her potty but she seemed distracted by the cat. I did notice her sit on it when I went downstairs to refill the diapers but I thought it was just like all those other times. I came back and I never even checked her potty. At the time she was just sitting up, heading my way and waving by to the cat. I took that as a sign of nothing new. I feel so bad, I hope I didn’t ruin it and she keeps it up.

I don’t know if this is “early” but it seems like it. I guess our secret is having her sit on her potty while we sit close on our thrown.

  • Who knows. She loves to flush and wash hands though! I guess we'll keep putting her on every so often- when we think of it and see what happens. I am not getting my hopes up though. I don't mind her diapers yet and I just bought a box from Cost Co!

Girls typically potty train earlier than boys, between 18mos and 3years or something like that. Joey was poop trained about 18mos and we stopped using pull ups at 2 1/2, but I think it was laziness on everybodys part because most of the time she used the potty. Quinn on the other hand hates wearing a pee diaper and takes it off and then wants to sit on the potty. No successes yet though. If you are ready and you think she's close take her frequently and go from there.
