It's funny how people get really opinionated on subjects that just arent what they intended to be.

just to clarify, this shot is not pre-emptive. it is a "therapeutic vaccine" which means it combates a disease that is already in the system. an immunization vaccine builds up immunities to prevent future infection. the only thing that makes it a vaccine is that the shot is made up of inactive cells from the virus it is trying to combat.

so, i don't think those who won't put on a condom fall into the same group as those who might need a shot. by the time they need the vaccine, they've already learned their lesson... but who am i to talk, i've been having unprotected sex for over a year now!

Well , Jesus states that sodom will rise up in the judgement and condem the town of capernium - so I dont think it is imaginary .

It doesnt need to be a perfect analogy but it does fit . Under the name of freedom we have , as a nation , allowed these things that were not even taking place in nazi germany - the icon of evil in the modern world .

To discuss these things does not mean we dont have or cant have a compassionate response to the great needs around us . These are not mutally exclusive . Its interesting that when you start to discuss aids or abortion two sides emerge that think that certain ideas are Implied .
If you assign responsiliblity for aids then Side A says : Oh you're not compassionate and we need to help everyone , dont be judgemental .
Side B comes up with : Oh , well Side A you're not stopping the actions of wht is spreading aids or speaking up about it , dont you care about right and wrong and jsut have a mess of ' lets help ' without addressing the problems .

Justice is on one hand ministering to those who are getting the shaft but it is also bringing to light what is the cause and to stop those actions that are hurting others .
Kids would not have aids if some adults didnt bring it to them or our society in some way . In saying this I dont think its unloving. Its the truth . This doenst mean that this condems any person or a class, it is the facts of life .

Should we Not have compassion and try to help Any with Aids ? Of course we Should help them .

There is no one morally worthy compared to the holiness of God .

My discussion is related to the post above mine about aids and abortion .
In the bible it states that there will be a judgment and no one can stand on his own merit and even the one who trusts in Jesus will have a judgement to go thru at the " bema " seat of Christ - Judging what we did , not whether we get in heaven but about our rewards or lack of .

Jesus heals and He has healed thru my prayers even .
The judgement time is not something we want to think about and we want to think of the loving Jesus - but in the old testament this God of ours ordered Joshua to completey wipe and kill everyone - why ? - the reason given in the bible is due to their extreme sin, violence, evil .

Judgement time is different from the time now and when He was here . yes ,He is the same , but He has different times and plans for each age .
Revelation states that death and hades will give up their dead and they will stand before The Great White Throne of Judgement . Not something I want to stand in front of without Jesus .

I won't get into why this is not exactly a perfect analogy, seeing as how this post was about AIDS, not homosexuality, abortion, Nazis, or some imaginary kind of judgment day where the accused get to present some sort of an argument or defense.

On the subject of AIDS, we would probably do better to focus our efforts on how we can help those who are afflicted. When Jesus was healing people, I don't think he went around asking them how they got the disease, or whether they were morally worthy of his help or not.

Its sad to think about the aborted babies and then kids with aids .
The altars of convenience and selfishness run with the blood of the youngest and most innocent . Hitler and the Nazis will rise up at the judgement and condemn our country and those supporting abortion and they will demand and apology for speaking bad about them .
The books will be opened and no one will have an excuse .
No one will stand without the grace of God .
I am suprised the USA has help out so long without getting slammed by God .

Interesting how the media doesn't tell us how AIDS is spread (not talking of Africa, just USA) because they don't want the truth that the majority is spread through homosexuality and drug use. I don't think I am being a jerk here, I am just stating what the number say, the major reason why men contract AIDS is through gay sex. Also think of abortion. 95% of abortions performed is birth control. You always here the argument "well what about rape?" Sure, no problem, but do you realize that less than 1% of all abortions are performed in the US because of rape? Imagine if Bush came out and said "I am for abortion. And the only time that is, is when the mother's life is in danger or if the woman was raped, all other reasons will not be tolerable." Pro-Abortion people would have a fit, they realize that because a child will be an inconvenience to their lifestyle they should suck it down a sink..

To clarify, I am talking about the lazy, pompous person who thinks it could never happen to them, so they decide not to get the vaccine, I am not talking about the world only american citizens that I see statistics for, and am not talking about the "church".

The bigger issue that you have said is Ignorance, the lack of knowledge or education, I am with you on this, I think that this is the main issue for America and the world but for America I still don't think its a lack of knowledge about HIV/AIDS but just an overall lack of education and strength.

Pre-empt, I should have wrote preemptive: "to do something that makes it pointless or impossible for somebody else to do what he or she intended." Maybe I should have said concerned about protecting themselves to begin with.

A giant percentage of AIDS victims are in Africa. A large number of those are children who contracted the disease from their parents. A great number of people are carrying HIV or even have HIV AIDS and don't even know it. This is a much greater problem/issue than just Gay sex and a little shot. People are very uninformed and ignorant, and from recent conversations are choosing to stay that way. We need to inform adults and children alike and I believe the "church" better step it up, or as Bono says, "..the church will becom irrelevant."

No, I am not talking about that one bit. Noone deserves Aids, I am talking about people actually getting the vaccine. People that think it wont happen to them. People that say "I wont get it so why should I wear a condom, or not shot up with your needle", would just say in the future, "I wont get it so why should I get a shot to prevent it".

And yes there are a lot of people who did not get Aids through sex or drugs but the overall percentage is.
Newsweek published an article giving the overall sources of HIV

MEN:
19% IV Drug use
13% HeteroSex
8% IV Drug use and gay sex
59% gay sex

Women:
28% IV drug use
70% Heterosex

There are an awful lot of people who contract AIDS who did not contract the virus through sexual acts or drug use. Do they deserve what they get?

Could this help with other viruses ? What is " reducing viral load " about ?

First thought is fear about taking the vaccine , something I did not have when I first took the polio vaccine . Funny , maybe due to being an adult and knowing more .
