Adsense

Google Adsense yesterday shut down my ads because they said I had “invalid clicksâ€?, I don’t think so. I wonder how many clicks I had, assuming they use IP addresses to determine this. And I wonder how many clicks from the “adminâ€?/IP they figure enough to disable an account. Especially since I only made $15 last month; why would it be a concern? I guess computers aren’t good judges.

I am appealing and for now, no Google ads.

I wonder if Sara clicked a bunch causing me the grief, since I told her last month how it works. Hmm?

This would be a good time for all of you to comment on those ads, wether they are good or bad. I’m sure Jared has something to say.

i think ridiculous clicks from any single source would do the trick. after all, you visit sites with several computers and if you were trying to rip them off, wouldn't you do it from a random computer, not your own?

What would it matter if other sites share the same IP since this site is the only one that had the ads?

An adsense DOS doesn't make sense since it would show in my stats. I think they did a cross reference of IP addresses of the clicks and the ip addresses that I log in with to the account. So a DOS wouldn't make any sense unless it was a continues stream that making it obvious. And if that did happen you could just say it was some jack off.

Now if you made the script to change IPs then you would just make the person money.

whoa, adsense dos...i have a new hobby!
  • One other thought - how many different sites to you run on your server, and do they all share the same IP?
  • Good luck on the appeal, but I will bet you a good amount of money that they won't change their minds, and they won't tell you exactly what they observed as being "invalid clicks".

If you didn't (accidentally or on purpose) actually violate the TOS in this way, it could easily have been someone doing an adSense DOS on you. I haven't actually heard of this happening, but if I really wanted to screw with someone who used Google ads, I would set up a script to just keep generating clicks until their account gets suspended.
  • Clicks from the bridge count too.
