Unbelievable RNC 9/11 Tribute Video w/ Olbermann Commentary

Decide for yourself…but IMO this was pure filth. Exploiting the families of that tragedy was completely wrong and they should be ashamed.

  • It perpetuates the complete lack of understanding of our enemies that has driven us to create monsters like Osama bin Laden out of ignorance and callousness.

Why did the Iranians take hostages? Because we overthrew their democratically elected leaders and installed the Shah, then helped him loot their treasury and escape.

Why is Osama bin Laden upset? Because we erected permanent military bases very near the holy city of Mecca, and we continue to have an uneven policy regarding Israel and the Palestinians.

They do not "hate us for our freedoms." And we do not need another moron in office who thinks that they do.

I'm not saying they are right, just that if we do not understand our enemy, we will never be able to defeat them.

If you remove the voice over it looks like an Al-Qaeda pep rally video. Shows very poor taste on the part of the RNC.

    Some high(low)lights:

    "And kill us they did."

The sound effect coordinated to the exploding tower at :50

"For too long we've looked the other way" [is this an admission that Bush has been doing nothing to manage terrorist cells?]

"But the enemy [whoever they mean by that] is wrong. This is a war [again, not sure what they mean by this] will win."

"We'll have a president who knows how." [And at last, young Jedi, the journey to exploitation of the dead is complete.]

The strange video of still-standing Twin Towers depicting a bird flying backward at 2:42. [As if they're trying to rewind history?]

    Yowza.

That's right - it's OK to show Al Jezerra videos of Al Quada shooting US servicemen - but we need to forget 9/11.
  • I agree that it was in extremely poor taste.

Hopefully this will only serve to bring attention to the absolutely ludicrous nature of the idea that McCain will in any way make America a safer place.

The "war on terror" is the new "war on drugs" - it's a platform that people love to get behind, but upon closer examination its foundation is incomplete, and its premise ultimately faulty.

How do you define "victory" in such a war? If it's the eradication of terrorism at all costs (which is of course unachievable), then we must be willing to count those costs.

To even get close to that kind of dominating control we would have to sacrifice even more of the freedoms we hold dear at home and the principles of integrity in our relations abroad - in other words, the things that have historically been a huge part of what makes our nation great.

It's very clear that the current administration is willing to put those things aside for the sake of pursuing this "war". One may argue about their motives in doing so, but this aspect (the sacrifices they're willing to make) has been clearly demonstrated for the last 5 years.

This is THE fundamental issue of this election for me. I cannot vote for any candidate who does not have, as a primary goal of their campaign, a priority to reverse the bill-of-rights-stomping executive branch power grab of this administration, AND to make a clear, humble, and public change of direction in our dealings with the rest of the world, in an effort to restore our international reputation to whatever degree that we can.

The idea that invading and occupying a middle eastern country that was not posing a threat to us, unilaterally and in violation of international law, has in ANY way made us safer from the threat of terrorist attacks is absurd.

Our actions have essentially validated (in their eyes and the children they are recruiting to their cause) the claims about us that these whack-job jihadists have been asserting for so long. We couldn't have done that more effectively if we had tried.

    It's time for a change.
