I’ve been using Newsvine for a while now and I just can’t get over how great it could be. The problem as I see it, no users. I know they just opened out of beta but the tech news featured is old and tired. Compared to Digg: Digg is up to date and rich with links, Newsvine’s content is “smarter”, full and the userbase is reliable and knowledgeable (noticeable in the comments, newsvine comments are not fueled with flames).

The problem as I see it with Newsvine is being smart. Most readers are not interested in reading great content or contributing to a richer service. It’s an ADHD www. This is found with how successful Digg is, it’s easy to submit a story, you don’t have to write all that much about the link, and by doing it lets the readers skim the links, sometimes only reading the title for a digg; nothing fruitful at all in that scheme. Newsvine takes your time but the quality that you get out of it by far superseded the fast paced, ADD, feel of Digg.

But, who ever has the time to spare anyways?
