Does your Treo have an IR port? If so, you can get software and do it all from your Treo too.

I wish I had done this before the remote on our DVD/VCR combo broke, because there’s a few buttons it had that the other all-in-ones don’t seem to reproduce out of the box. If the remote was still working, I could have copied all the signals into a new one or my PDA (or both, for backup), but I didn’t think of that before it broke. Sometime I’ll have to go into a store with a similar model and copy them to my PDA.

i thought you weren’t going to get a 360 since you couldn’t get one the day they came out. you gave some other reason, but i assumed the day-of thing was the main reason.

That is probably the worst idea you’ve ever suggested. Granted it’s “techie” but it is a ~~little~~lot overboard. I couldn’t imagine holding my phone and pushing the little buttons or trying to figure out where to press on the touch screen to play or rewind or whatever. This is why I never liked that big sony remote that is just a big touch screen, having to look at the remote for every push would just be annoying.

Oh, yeah. I could imagine my phone ringing and instead of being able to pause I have to answer it first. ;D

I didn’t want to get a 360 because I thought the Nintendo Revolution was coming out early (March) but since it’s coming out Q3/Q4 there’s no reason to wait.
