If Google Reader aggregated and displayed how many people Shared each post and then calculated the most popular ones and displayed them in a separate label (like they have for Stared and Shared) they could have a feature that kills Digg!

Only if more people used Google Reader then Digg. The other problem would be that the news would only be dependent on everyone subscribing to the same feed. Now that I think about it, it wouldn’t work just because of that on flaw in that logic. Del.icio.us would still trump a Google Share.
