1. “no no no”

What a question and what an answer. I really don’t care too much with Vista’s looks being so much like OS X, especially when you compare the Vista logo with all the other sphere/orb Apple logos. But the answer was hysterical, “Parental controls that’s the first time that was … Read More »

  2. Vista and virtualization

Again Microsoft is making me break the law.

Microsoft has released a new EULA (End User License Agreement) that states that only certain versions of Vista – Business and Ultimate (and Enterprise for corporate customers) are eligible to be run in a virtual machine. The EULA says that Home Basic and Home Premium CANNOT be run in a virtual machine.

Here’s the tecnical legalese from the EULAs:
For Vista Home Basic and Home Premium Editions:
“USE WITH VIRTUALIZATION TECHNOLOGIES. You may not use the software installed on the licensed device within a virtual (or otherwise emulated) hardware system.”

For Vista Enterprise and Ultimate Editions:
“USE WITH VIRTUALIZATION TECHNOLOGIES. You may use the software installed on the licensed device within a virtual (or otherwise emulated) hardware system on the licensed device. If you do so, you may not play or access content or use applications protected by any Microsoft digital, information or enterprise rights management technology or other Microsoft rights management services or use BitLocker. We advise against playing or accessing content or using applications protected by other digital, information or enterprise rights management technology or other rights management services or using full volume disk drive encryption.”

In short, this means that if you’re a user and you want to run Vista virtually, you MUST buy the highest end versions of Vista, or you’ll be in violation of the Microsoft EULA.

The Official Parallels Virtualization Blog: Vista is here. So what does it mean for virtualization?

Amazing Story…The story of BA flight 009 and the words every passenger dreads …

Displaying the stiff-upper-lip spirit that built an empire, he uttered the words that are every air passenger’s worst nightmare: ‘Ladies and gentlemen, this is your captain speaking. We have a small problem. All four engines have stopped. We are doing our damnedest to get it … Read More »

  6. PAX’d out

Roger and I left this morning and headed out to IKEA in Burbank. Sara and I are planning to redo our closets; mine, Sara’s and create one for Avery’s future room. After a huge credit card charge and two disappointed fellows we were looking at a truck full of PAX and a cart sitting with no place to fit. I ended up driving back out there in the pouring rain and I’m finally back. Saturday night is usually my Zelda night but tonight I’m going to finish Crank and go to bed. Next week Roger and I will put them together, hopefully Lowes will have our Tub in stock.

As you can tell Sara and I are doing a lot of home improvements: Closets, bathtub and shower and well a new TV :). So far we are looking good for costs. The IKEA closets will end up 1/4 of what a few companies wanted to charge. And the guy wanting my broken down car wants to install the tub and shower and some and do some other work for the car. Maybe I should have splurged a little more on the TV.
