1. bustedPod

My nano broke last week after I dropped it into Avery’s little pool when I was picking here up (slipped out of my shirt pocket after the bike ride home) and I sent it back to Apple today. Hopefully they wont notice the water damage and they’ll fix it. Otherwise I really don’t know what to do about a new one.

I’m currently using Sara’s pink iPod mini. It’s adequate but I really want my own again. I tried craigslist for the first time tonight and ebay has nothing. To make it more difficult I don’t know if I want a nano again or the video version. And then the rumors of the “true” video iPod and the 8gb upgrades to the nano.

I’m leaning toward a video ipod even if a nano is ideal for the bike rides because the video would come in handy for the GL TV show lunch hour :D.

  2. ‘To Catch a Predator’

I love to see the networks reporting on this. I only hope the “pervertid justice” team turns into a nationalworldwide agency, I don’t even care if they keep the name “pervertid justice”. We just need more “justice” and more reporting to make kid’s parents wake-up to the real world. … Read More »

  3. Lost finale dissection and theory

It’s pretty long but I think the finale has answered a lot of questions and solidified the direction that the island is not as mysterious as we thought. … Read More »

  5. X3

Jared, Nathan, Randy, Kristi and I went to see X3 tonight and it was ah’ right. I don’t really know what it was but I’m going to blame the Director. Especially since he’s got so much flake for taking the job in the first place and people saying he was going to ruin the movie. I’d have to say that he did because no matter how bad the writing is the direction of the movie supersedes all.

The major problems that I noticed were the quirky edits with lame cuts making the movies pace. The movie was a quick one not in physical time, but the speed of the story was fast and the slow parts to help the audience catch up were just corny. These were the times for character development and connection but instead they made good as filler. It seemed weird for me not to connect with any of the characters at all, something that I had from the first two.

I’ll have to watch the other two again and make sure they weren’t as bad but I was a little disappointed with this one. It just seemed rushed and poorly directed. Maybe the critics were right in saying Ratner would screw it up and the production schedule made for a rushed movie, I don’t know but all I know is when I bought that $10 ticket I watched my own movie, blocked out the negativity and concluded on my own the movie wasn’t great.
It wasn’t great but it was good and I would suggest seeing it if you liked the first two, I’d just be hesitant to expect an awesome movie which I wanted.

  6. mailto: Links

Did I ever say that I hate mailto: links. I can’t claim to be a professional web developer or designer and definitely not a standards compliant coder but it just drives me batty when I see these things, even worse then tables. What standard can we deem them as non-compliant?

    My suggested alternatives.

  7. Off to work

Wednesday was my first ride to work day. Reminiscent of riding my bike to school it turned out to be not as bad as I thought. One reason was the new awesome bike I bought the night before.

For some reason the bike just looks to small in the picture but it really is grown up size. I bought it at the Trek store behind Target after visiting there last week and driving to a couple local shops around town including Ray’s on Johnson and Costco; Costco’s bikes are crappy and Ray’s was an almost buy, it just turned out that Trek’s equivalent was only $30 less, a brand I never heard of (Giant) and it would have taken a few days to make. So $400 later and 15 minutes of trying to fit the thing in my car I had a new bike to drive to work.

I’ve surprised myself this week with riding it everyday even this morning when I was going to be “late” and yesterday after a killer long Lost night. It only takes 20 minutes to ride to work which is the same amount of time it took me to drive to Oxnard for SJ. I find it a great time to listen to some podcasts like the Gillmor gang and hopefully loose a few pounds in between saving on gas. I wonder how many calories I burn every 3+ miles.

  10. Macbook family

The current Macbook line is just too expensive, $1099+ for the lowest model, which is still a great price considering the specs. I’m thinking Apple will just come out with a ‘lite’ version of the Macbook but according to this picture the “family” is complete. Which makes me wonder. I still think apple’s goal is to get everyone and not just the zealot and JasonB thinks that the lineup will just see a decrease in price since with the current chips are soon to drastically drop in price to the manufacturers from Intel. But I see both happening, the current cpu lineup will drop the macbooks’ prices down $100+ and then the newer/faster intel chips will be sported to keep the huge price tag as is. Similar to what Dell does with their laptops, it’s just multiple CPU options, something Apple hasn’t really done until recent.
