1. AJAX

    AJAX
is something I have hear a lot lately and still don’t know what all the hubbub is about. I know one main reason, DHTML is big right now, especially since Google started using it for their web apps. But now I see those Google apps being coined as AJAX apps and not DHTML. Instead of AJAX why not just call it DHTML and [blank]? Do people just not want to be specific, using a broad term like AJAX instead. So, what is it AJAX or DHTML? My guess it’s both but how confusing.

I will try to podcast regularly, mostly music (Dan’s music mix) but I could easily post some video. And then there is always this.

Now all I need to do is create a podcast badge. :D.

  4. Video Casting

I am so excited right now. I just found out that iTunes now supports videocasting.

This changes so much, not only am I going to push for VideoCasting at the Bridge but I will most likely get this going for my work too. It’s just too easy now. Wordpress already has the ability to include enclosures in it’s rss feeds and iTunes; just too damn easy for the user.

For the Bridge we have to get our sound recordings pushed to podcasting first. They supposedly have been on the web for a while so it should have been done already. I just iChated with Greg and he loves it, he has some great ideas; all secrets.

Video will be a chore but all I need to do is delegate it to someone, right? My plan: encode to h.264, upload it to my server, post it on a WP site…is that it? I wonder if I could create an automater workflow to do this automatically…oh wait..windows…ahhh.

    Apple – iTunes – Podcasting.

I would still recommend you download the TWiT cast as your first podcast subscription.

  7. Ever dance with the devil by the pale moon light?

Watching Batman (‘89) just because I wanted to refresh my memory and I am half way through it and I figured out I’m not insane. Joker did kill Bruce Wayne’s parents in this adaptation. The deciding factor is the quote by Joker, “Ever dance with the devil by the pail pale moon light?”, just before he shoots Bruce Wayne at [what's her name]’s house. Then Bruce has a flash back and remembers the same quote by a younger Jack/Joker then after revealing his face to the boy Bruce; the grin. As I always remembered (now who’s crazy? Jared Nathan). I know the comic books are different but for few/some who only watched the movies and maybe a little bit of comic book history it’s hard to forget the discrepancies that lies in Batman Begins.

Also at the end of Batman Begins (spoiler?) when Batman was handed a joker card and was told to go after this guy, with a quote of he has a “double homicide”, my speculation is, the double was the Waynes and with the confirmation of the Next BB headlining Joker I strongly think the new movie plot will be keep with the old and still have Joker as the murderer of Bruce’s parents. Not really that big of a deal to me either way but just an observation.

I just hope the next BMB will be great enough, like the first, to not really care what I remember in the last mess/series of films.

I also recommend for the people who just watched BB not to rent ‘89. It is so bad. Even if you remember it being so great.

  8. The Screen Savers are back

The Screen Savers crew is back with a weekly podcast at thisWeekinTech.com. I talked about The Screen Savers a lot here, but for some reason I can’t find those posts, anyways Screen Savers got me where I am today: geek wise. As a late geek bloomer I started to learn a lot about tech 5 years ago when I first started watching that the Screen Savers on TechTV. Before I started watching Screen Savers I was solely a video game gadget guy that would get the latest news in the Bestbuy ad and Video Game websites and magazines. Horrible. I never knew were to go on the web nor had the resources for the mags. But one day I was talking with someone and they told me about TSS, I started watching that day and I loved it, Leo, Pat and the crew taught me a lot. The first, get a Tivo so I could record the show and watch it ever day after a long day of Caddying. Second, Slashdot, something I don’t read anymore but such a great resource. Those first few years, I grew so much, now look at me now. Yeah, I still don’t really know too much but I do now how to get it. I might be making the show seem like a tutorial on how to use the internet or baby steps for the computer idiots, it wasn’t; Call for Help hosted by Chris Perillo, another tachTV show covered that. The Screen Savers was a show for those in betweeners, like I was, someone that was computer savvy but needed to know more. Well about a year ago, maybe two, G4 bought techTV and crumbled all the shows. I was hurting not knowing if I should leave, hoping it would go back to the same strategy, it didn’t it turned into something unpleasant, it turned into a hip call for help. Ahh, I was so disappointed.

Anyways, one of the best parts of the show was the beginning when they just talked about tech news, well now they are all back and they are doing a podcast. The podcast of just tech news and commentary. I love it, I have listened to two already and I not only into podcasting now but I can finally get my tech roots quenched. Make sure to check it out. And thanks Jason B. for telling me, otherwise I don’t think I would have noticed. (more…)

  10. Camino?

Alex King brought up Camino as the best mac browser and I really beg to differ.

Oh happy day! A patch has finally been submitted that enables accesskey support for Camino.

When a nightly is built that includes this patch, Camino will be the Best Mac Browserâ„¢, period.

I don’t really get why Camino would be the the greatest browser for the mac. Yes, it is the best browser if that is all you do, browse websites, but it does not support XUL like Firefox. So there is no expandability.

The best part of Firefox is:

    http://chrispederick.com/work/firefox/webdeveloper

    http://www.iosart.com/firefox/colorzilla

    http://editcss.mozdev.org

Just these few firefox extensions make Firefox so much more productive then Camino I can’t figure out why he would say that about Camino.

Productivity aside Camino is a great browser, fast and accurate but you could get almost the same experience from Firefox. Or even Safari webkit. I will probably comment more on this or post a review of all the browsers, at least give some good links.
