1. Meet the Press

    Anyone else watch Kerry on Meet the Press Last night?

    His plan was so clear last night; only if America understood it months ago.

    Here is a good excerpt form the transcript about abortion that I thought everyone interested should read since noone will actually read the entire transcript; here.
    (more…)

  2. Flash

    I forgot to tell everyone a couple weeks ago I learned flash; a little bit anyways. ScatteredMedia.com does not count since it’s made from a template that I edited and improved a little.

    This is the site I maintain for work and if you go here and click on “View the MNR on-line here”, you can see what I did.

    I am proud because it was a full day of fun, especially since it didn’t warrant an 8-hr work day.

    If you know why the library site doesn’t render all the way in Firefox please tell me.

  3. One Click or two?

    Why Apple Makes a One Buttoned Mouse

    The first reason deals with the technical ability of the average computer user. Having once worked doing technical support, let me explain one very common point of frustration for techs. Here is an example:

    Me: Right click on “My Computer”
    Caller: Right?
    Me: The right mouse button
    Caller: Oh, okay…Now there’s a menu.
    Me: Select “Manage”
    Caller: okay
    Me: Double click on ‘Device Manager’
    Caller: Left or right click?

  4. In my head

    I know everyone is listening to these guys now but Jason Morgan gave me the The Postal Service cd months ago and I just can’t get over how good this song is.
    Listen to it here.
    Buy it at:

    The Postal Service

  5. iPod Shuffled out

    I got my shuffle yesterday and found out that I can’t use it like I want to. I can’t plug it in and use it as a usb drive and at the same time listen to music through the mini plug. STUPID! It does make sense though, so today I took it to work and found iTunes wont link it so I can listen to the music. So the only way to listen to music on this thing is if it is unplugged from a usb port, you know, the way it was intended for. So I contemplated keeping it because I do like it a lot and I could see myself using it as an iPod and usb drive (just not at the same time), but I am hesitating to keep it and right now I am listing it on eBay . I just do not know what in the hell to do, I want to keep it because it’s the best mp3 player I have had but I could just put a bunch of mp3’s on my work computer and use firefox sync; then I wouldn’t need to have a usb drive continuously hooked up to my computer. But will I use the mp3 function, it would be cool to always have a usb drive and mp3 player at all times. So many benefits; so many disappointments.
    Let’s just see if it sells first.

    UPDATE
    I guess it doesn’t matter anymore since I just sold it. It sucks because I was really starting to like it. I guess I will just fix my old ipod and use it at work and Sara and I can go buy a crib, metaphorically, since we always could have bought one. Oh and I made a couple bucks just to try it out, thats’s a good perk.

  6. Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

    Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

    Why have I overlooked this great resource for so long. I’ve read about it so many times. The wikipedia will replace the encyclopedia, but just how much longer. One reason is I recently read a story but when I read a story about a kid proving the about a kid in europe proving the enciclopedia’s he had were wrong, recent ones. So why buy $1,000+ books that cannot be updated?

  7. DAve Z

    Dave Z has closed his blog. Why?
    Tell him what you think.
    Personally I like to read his blog, it’s fun. But he might feel hesitant about it because noone comments. I just don’t like to comment on blogger blogs because of the comment system; that goes for every blogger blogger out there. Just because I don’t comment doesn’t mean I don’t read it regularly; I just download your RSS feed and keep it at that. Where did Hoby go too?

  8. Firefox is the best

    Found here:

    Now you can sync your bookmarks over FTP,

    Bookmarks Synchronizer is a Mozilla Firefox extension that let you connect to an FTP/WebDAV server and synchronize your bookmarks that are stored in an XML file. Setup is easy; just write in your FTP/WebDAV server address, username, password and a name for the XML file

    I have used it already and it works great, now I don’t have to worry about leaving my usb drive at work. If you don’t remember why my usb drive would factor in, it’s because I use Portable Firefox.

    If you wanted to see my bookmarks they are here.

  9. Wordpress 1.5 comments RSS url Hack

    Originally this was a fix to a problem in the beta 1.5 but now it’s a hack. I would get rid of it but I like it a lot better this way.
    The RSS link to the comment will now go directly to the comment and not the post.
    The hack involves adding a new function in wp-includes/comment-functions.php to return the URL of a specific comment. Here is that function:

    function get_specific_comment_link()
    {
    global $comment;
    return get_permalink( $comment->comment_post_ID ) . “#comment-” . $comment->comment_ID;
    }

    Then, in feed-functions.php, change comment_link_rss() function on line 58 to:

    function comment_link_rss() {
    echo get_specific_comment_link();
    }

    Thanks ColdForged

    It turns out that the new way is a lot better since the link takes you to that specific comment and not the post.

  10. URL

    Which is better?

    http://ScatteredThoughts.us
    or

    http://DanCameron.org

    Both work but what’s cooler?

    New Years Resolution; cut down on my domains, I currently have 20.
