  2. Morals lost in Politics

With the Tsunami catastrophe happening on the other side of the world I pray for the people still going through the ordeals of pain and sorrow. I have seen so much footage, as many of you have, and it just seems unbelievable; a 20 foot wave (from what we see on tape) killing so many people, at this time I hear 200,000150,000, in two weeks it could be double.
Michel at the bridgeblogs helped by telling us how to support; we need to help NOW.
    So why hasn’t America helped?
The last figure I have heard is 35 million dollars (maybe $50 later), sounds like a lot but the total cost of the destruction is going to be around 1.6 billion. From what I hear the U.N. Is telling the united states to step up, I agree, and once again we give the middle finger to the U.N.. I know a lot of people like what we are doing, because of past instances with the U.N. “stealing our money”. But, the U.N is right we need to step up, and step it up now.
Why is it that we fully supporting these people going through the biggest disaster in our lifetime?
I think if we just took the entire 1.6 billion dollar tab we would heal so many hearts around the world that hate the U.S.. You know the people that hate us because we only reach out our hand if we can get something in return in the other. Sorry, it just seems stupid that a nation that voted for a moral and valued president doesn’t demand more value and morals from our national leader. What morals did we vote for.
    To put things in perspective:
    Saddam killed an estimated 300,000
In less then a week the Tsunami has killed 200,000+150,000+

We invaded Iraq and contributed to 100,000 Iraqi deaths (Lancet)

We spend $100,000,000 (that’s 100 million) A DAY occupying Iraq
We can only give $35,000,000 ($35 million) for the BIGGEST catastrophe, I pray, in our lifetime.

No wonder so many HATE the U.S.; when have we ever helped a Muslim country without an assessment plan for our benefit.

  3. Is a house something to move for.

Sara and I yesterday went exploring after the hospitol trip.
We had some last minute Christmas shopping and after I decided to look at some houses. We saw that houses normally, 1 million in Ventura, are in the high $300,000s here. Amazing, Boise is great, housing is great, what is holding us back from packing up and leaving?
When Sara and I first got married we would go back and forth about moving, Sara hated the cost of Cali, and I never wanted to move becaue of all it’s benifits. Before their were so many reasons not to move, now, only one. Before I would say, the weather, now I am over it. Before I would say, the Bridge, now, I could never get over it, but I could move on. Lastly, before I would say, my job, now it is biggest reason not to move away from the expensive; perfect climate; densly populated; my family; dick heads; the B; traffic jammed; Ventura California.
I am so torn, with a child on the way, what is better?
A big house with a big yard, frigid in the winter, boiling in the summer, low cost of living, with great schools, and freindly people?
Or a perfect climate, with perfect freinds, with jerk neighbors, in a small condo, barely making it on a good waged job that I like?
    But, could I ever leave?
What about you, I would’nt be able to see you; my family.
The perspective I see right now is Mac, our baby to be, or even future Mac’s, what is a better family desicion, from my viewpoint Boise beats Ventura, but only by speculation from the mind. The most important factor, GOD, only he will lead us to were he wants our child to learn and grow

  4. Adversity

    Too much to say.
As many of you know, Sara and I are in Boise, Idaho , with her family. Her Parents live here with one of Sara’s sisters and her daughter, Sara’s other sister is here with here family, she lives in Washington with here husband and two kids.
The last couple days have been great until the eventful Christmas eve. This morning we went to the YMCA, and to help all of you Venturians, the YMCA here is awesome, it’s huge they have 3 pools: a kiddy pool, a lap pool, and the last has 2 slides; all in doors to shelter us from frigid cold outside (27 degrees). So we went to the pool this morning and it was a lot of fun for everyone. After we went out to Lunch and after, Sara’s sister’s son, Joshua, was sick. We went home and he was put to bed only to have a horrible event happen in the coming minutes. Doris, Sara’s mom, yelled at Jim to run downstairs, Mardi’s, Joshua’s mom was panicking, we had no idea what was happening, all we had was Sara’s mom describing what she heard through the baby monitor. Seconds later Mardi is holding Joshua, LIFELESS, it was horrifying. I yell, “lay him down, do not carry him!” Someone yells, “Tori (Sara’s niece) knows CPR”. Then I became proud, Sara took over, she knew exactly what to do, or she sure looked like it. I was so proud of her, we called 911, I took care of the crying scared kids and Sara tended to Joshua with her father. As this was happening all I saw was him laying there, not moving, vomiting green clearish mucus, it was one of the scariest moments of my life; a baby that I was playing with 3 hours ago is lifeless, everyone freaked. After the kids went down stairs Joshua started opening his eyes, still no movement, they decided to have him lay on his father face down, because it would be easier on him to vomit . Seconds later, seeming like hours, he started resisting, which is a great sign since he is moving, then a cry, never had that housed loved Joshua’s cries until that moment. I heard the sirens coming up the hill so I waited outside for them to come. I led them in and they decided he had to go to the hospital, at that time he was doing good, not great. The docs did some great work and we have finally found out, –WHY?–. It was water poisoning, with a possibility that he got water into his lungs. He will be in the hospital for the night but he is doing well. Christmas eve in the Hospital, not something we had planned but as long as Josh is safe.
How come you see true form through adversity, Sara someone that freaks and freezes in moments of Panic, stayed calm, so calm, like Tiger Woods was 3 years ago putting a ten footer.

  5. cha-ching

With the news about Napster adopting the ubsurd copy right protection that Micro$oft developed makes me a little upset. Read all about it here.

Microsoft earlier this year developed a new copyright protection plan that allows for the transfer of subscription songs to portable players. For $5 more a month, consumers can transfer Napster’s entire catalog to their device — and listen as often as they’d like — as long as they subscribe.

With the top-of-the-line iPod, “You can fit 10,000 songs on it,” Gorog says. But “to do that would cost you $10,000 if you bought the songs from Apple. With our plan, customers can get 10,000 songs on their device for $180 a year. It’s an enormous value.”

This seems very strange to me since Napster created the whole DRM movement through it’s filesharing roots; and they now are going to implement the most restrictive DRM produced by a monopolistic software giant. Do you see a pattern? Micro$oft initializes a good program with Napster, millions want it, then millions will have to buy microsoft approved players. Cutting a non-competitor Apple in it’s side. Next they will pay you to use msn search to cut Google.

  6. Just did not work

Sara and I went out to lunch with family to Applebees, it was alright. But afterwards we went to ebworld next door and I found that they had some Nintendo DS’ for sale and I had to buy a couple because I know that they were going for a lot on eBay. I bought two thinking I could sell them for $250 but I just noticed 2 minutes ago there are thousands on eBay right now. I guess I will have to take them back–good thing I asked about the refund policy–. I wish eBay was like it used to be…when no one knew how easy it was to list things for auction and opportunists like myself could make a couple bucks.
    Anyone want a DS? $170 if I know you $180 if I don’t.

I cant wait for the PSP

  7. 26

I don’t think I will ever beat this record high (comments for one post).

  8. Finally

    I am finally numero uno.

  9. Death

For the people that took this little survey, http://okcupid.com/death that stryker brought us ( its a survey on how long you will live).
    First off it says:

The Death Test is the product of research that began over 5 years ago, in Harvard’s math department.

While we can’t share our methods, we think you’ll be shocked by our accuracy, in the last few seconds of your life.

I really doubt it, this seems like something people can really profit from. But anyways, it was fun. I am going to die in 2060 from a heart attack.
    Second:
    The question that had me really think was;

If push came to shove, could you kill another person to save yourself?

I answered yes but there are so many other circumstances that need to be factored in, like who is the other person. I wouldnt kill my child but I would kill a parent (they would want me to, I think). This might seem a little morbid but what would you answer? If you said No, Why, would you really not save yourself over anyone else?

  10. Tim is back

Tim, a good friend, at least I like to think of him that way, is back. I helped him this week get his blog running. Check it out here Real.FreeSpeek.com.
Hopefully this time he will post more then once a quarter and be less wordy.
    You know instead of saying

“hamburger with no ketchup, no mustard, no lettuce, no onions, and no tomato. Also could I get a order of fries and a diet coke”

    couldnt you just say

“plain number 1 with a diet coke, please”.

    or instead of saying

“One man controlled the essence of the sun in his own hand”

    just say

“that guy has a flash light”

    Have Fun Tim!
